Leaked Mavic Pro Platinum Photos Or A Clever Photoshop Hoax
With the IFA Event in Berlin commencing this Thursday and invites already distributed for a DJI announcement, it looks likely that yet another new DJI product launch is on the cards.
Two photos have just emerged via QuadcopterGuide, of what would appear to be a DJI photoshoot for a new model, the DJI Mavic Pro ‘Platinum’, will this be the focus of the DJI IFA Berlin announcement or are these photos an elaborate Photoshop hoax.Keep a close eye on www.dji-mavic.com, it will take you to the latest DJI Mavic news and stories at all times.
The two photos posted today have no credited source but appear to show a DJI Mavic Pro and the packaging being photographed for press and/or media, but the drone and box have a few quirks.
The DJI Mavic Platinum, speculated to be launched at the 31st August IFA event in Berlin.
Note the “Platinum” text written underneath the ‘Mavic Pro’ box labelling, in addition the props would appear to be coloured yellow on the tips. The gimbal also looks a little chunkier although this might just be due to the aspect of the photo.
The props are positioned slightly differently to the regular Mavic Pro box, they are also a revised design to the original Mavic props with a more aggressive shape, therefore we can assume that these photos are legitimate.

But take a look at the above photo which compares a standard DJI Mavic Pro retail box with the packaging pictured in the ‘leaked’ photo. you will note that when the box is sat on its base (carry handle facing upwards), the graphic is upside down, this leads us to suspect that this could be a setup.
No other visible differences can be detected from these two photos alone but if a new superior model is to be launched, it will be fuller featured and perhaps include some of the functionality requested in our extensive consumer Mavic Pro 2 poll.
The second photo shows the Mavic Pro sat on a table and the only difference here is the ‘Platinum’ text written on the left-hand arm of the drone.

However, introducing a sub-model of the ‘Mavic Pro’ would be a confusing and illogical move for DJI, better practice would be to introduce a ‘Mavic Standard’, or a ‘Mavic Platinum’. To name this new model ‘Mavic Pro Platinum’ has us a little suspicious that this might be an elaborate hoax, easily achieved with a yellow marker and a couple of “Platinum” stickers.
